PEACE ON EARTH ...

Finally finished the display, and I am generally happy with it ... mostly because of the idea of everyone participating and not the artwork per se. I liked making the wreath--I seem to be adept at cut paper and such--but Jenny the Cat, she wasn't as easy and I had to adjust the sizes of her eyes and nose and whiskers to be seen ... as my coworker said, "looks a bit cartoonish." I hold onto every slight made by others ... when it comes to my art. Sigh. But I am happy now ... happy to be done with this, now that I know that people are generally happy with the end result.

May you find peace in your heart today!

  1. I love it Jan! It's such a beautiful idea, and it turned out beautifully to boot. You must be thrilled. (I understand exactly how you feel about every little slight about your art - I'm terribly thin skinned. One thing that helps is thinking that often a comment isn't meant in quite the same way as we might take it. Okay, doesn't always help, but hey.) Anyway, congrats on a wonderful, heart-lifting display!

    1. Thank you Lynn. It is good having you here to share with!!! ... and it especially helps because you are an artist in your own right, hence you understand the razor's edge of being too sensitive. As you know the best way to be in the world is to like who you are and how you see the world ... especially when the gist of that lands on a canvas or piece of paper. I am not going to cut off my ear or anything, but I will be glad to leave this display for others to take down ... after I have put in my last day on the 24th. See you on the other side of that.

    1. Rachel, how nice for you to post that. I am pleased that you liked it. Makes me smile ... hope you & your little family are doing well these days! I told Nicole, just the other day, that you have the cutest baby ever! ... don't know how she took that, especially since she has a beautiful girl-child of her own. But that's me - a sometimes clumsy buffoon of a Sagittarius - stumbling, bumbling my way through life. Come and visit the bookstore soon, before I work my last day on the 24th? Or fb message me your address, so that I can keep in touch via snail mail.
